North State Symphony: Young Artists Auditions
Each year young classical musicians from the North State area compete in high school and university divisions of auditions sponsored by the Chico Guild and Redding League on behalf of the North State Symphony. First-place winner in each division wins the opportunity to solo with the NSS the following year. The public is invited to watch the students as they audition. Free.

North State Symphony: Experience Charm
The North State Symphony’s first concert of the new year shines a spotlight on the last great work written by the greatest composer of all time — Mozart’s charming and powerful Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter.” Also on the program is Barber’s Violin Concerto, “Mvt. 1,” featuring 2012 Young Artist Audition Winner Nellie Ponarul, and Stravinsky’s "Pulcinella Suite."

NSS Spring Chamber Music Concert: Experience the Lyrical
The North State Symphony’s second chamber music offering of the 2012-2013 season features jazzy and light-hearted pieces. For this concert a “micro” NSS orchestra led by Maestro Kyle Wiley Pickett performs Beethoven’s Septet, Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 and Martinu’s Le Revue de Cuisine – Jazz Suite.

North State Symphony: Experience Joy
This not-to-be-missed season-ending concert by the North State Symphony features a full-length performance of one of the greatest orchestral works of all-time, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Joined by chorus and guest vocalists the NSS’ performance of “the 9th” promises to be thrilling, uplifting and, need we say, “live and loud.” This concert is sure to sell out, so get your tickets early!
