Symphonic Bands' 'Band-ology' Concert Presented April 12

Royce TevisPresented Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Harlen Adams Theatre, Chico State’s Symphonic Winds invites audiences for an evening of band music, art music and some music for fun.

Conducted by Royce Tevis, “Band-ology” will feature the soothing, soaring and exciting clarinet playing of guest clarinetist Ryan Heimlich along with a number of other symphony pieces.

Compositions include “Concerto for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble” by Frank Ticheli, a three-movement piece that tributes 20th century American icons; “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger, a six-movement collection of folk song adaptations; and of course no band concert is complete without a march or two.

Audiences are sure to walk away from “Band-ology” with a greater appreciation for symphonic bands and band music, said Tevis.

Advance tickets, at $15 general, $13 senior citizens, and $6 students/children, are available at the University Box Office located at the corner of Third and Chestnut Streets.
